Grade R

Research shows that children who receive a good pre-school education adjust more easily to school and achieve better results. Our Grade R curriculum ensures that our little ones are well prepared for their formal schooling.

Grade 1-7

While English is the medium of instruction, IsiZulu and SeSotho are taught in parallel classes from grade 1 to grade 7. In the Foundation Phase great emphasis is placed on reading as reading with comprehension underpins all other learning.

Catholic Ethos

Our Catholic Ethos is the foundation of our school. Religious education is an integral part of our curriculum and is taught in all grades. As a school we pray together and attend Mass together at St Joseph’s Parish Church.

Extra-murals

Children benefit enormously from extra-mural activities as they acquire different skills and learn to work as a team. Currently our school offers:

Marimbas, Soccer, Netball, Cricket, Volley ball, Athletics

About Our School

Emaromeni Primary School was founded by the Dominican Sisters of Newcastle in Benoni in 1935 and was called St. Joseph’s School until 1970 when its name was changed.

Following the example of St Joseph, we strive to nurture a spirit of service and compassion, where God is central and where the dignity and voice of each child is respected and heard. The school delivers a value-based curriculum which encourages lifelong learning. We welcome all families who seek a holistic education that includes the fostering of faith and gospel values.
